Desert Sanctuary Animal Shelter

Our Mission

Our mission is to serve abandoned animals with compassion and dignity while investing in the future of less-fortunate children through skills training, mentorship, and responsible stewardship of donated funds. We believe that caring for animals and empowering children go hand in hand in building stronger, healthier communities.

How we plan on benefitting our community

Animal Welfare

Animal Feed - We buy the majority of our feed from Agra Auas Valley, as they have the most competitive prices. Our bird food comes from various suppliers as it needs to be high quality human-grade food.

Resources - We buy building supplies and tools from Agra and Ark Trading. We use these to make and maintain shelters for the animals.

Donations - Donations will be used to purchase materials and expand our ability to rescue abandoned animals or animals in need. Our vision for 2026 is to acquire a parcel of land which will be utilized to grow food for, and to house the animals. We are currently in negotiations with a farmer in the south of Namibia.

Youth Empowerment

Training - We offer skills training and mentorship programs for children, focusing on animal care, responsibility, and empathy.

Education - We provide educational resources and support to teach children about the animals in our care.

Life Skills - We provide life skills training to help children develop independence and confidence, among some of the skills we hope to develop are traditional sowing and home care.
